Note: AA's 7th tradition states that we are fully self-supporting through our own contributions.
As such, we do not accept contributions from non-AA members or entities.

Area 35 accepts contributions from AA groups, districts and individual members of AA. Contributions by individual members of AA are limited to $3,000 per year. Area 35 does not  accept contributions from non-AA groups of any kind or from individuals who are not members of AA.

Historically, groups, districts and individuals in Area 35 made contributions by mailing a check or money order to the Area Treasurer.  Online payment is now available. For Group Contributions, it is important to indicate your Group Name, Group City and District Number along with their Group General Service Number with the payment. Districts should indicate their District Number.

Ways to obtain your group General Service Number:

- Contact the previous group treasurer or secretary
- Contact your District Committee Member (DCM)
- Send an email request to the Area 35 Group Records Chair at or “grouprecords@area35.org”
- Look up your group in the US AA Directory
- Contact the General Service Office (GSO) in New York at www.aa.org

NOTE: There will be a 2.2% & $0.30 PayPal transaction fee deducted from each contribution. Thus, if you contribute $25, PayPal will deduct $.85 from your contribution to pay for the transaction fee, Making your actual contribution to Area35 $24.15.

A group, district or individual member of AA in Area 35 can make an online contribution using a major credit card through secure payment processing by PayPal.

A PayPal account is not required to make an online contribution.

“What is going to happen if I click Donate?”

You will see two PayPal screens. Screen one is for you to fill in personal and credit information. Screen Two is where you add your special instructions and finalize the transaction.

In PayPal Screen 1

To cancel your online contribution at any point, use the browser Back button. 

1. Enter the amount you want to contribute under "Donation Amount"
2. Click "Update Total" button on check face
3. Sign into your PayPal account or Click Continue by credit card               information 
4. Review your information to match your credit card account
5. Make sure the phone number is formatted correctly
6. Make sure your email address is accurate
7. Click Review Donation and Continue button
8. Correct any errors and Click again

1. Click "Add special instructions to the Seller button"
2. Enter type of contribution (Group, Birthday, Individual etc.)
3. For Group Contributions: Please Enter your Group Name and City,         Group Service Number along with District Number
4. For Birthday Contributions:  if you want credit to go to your Group         Please Enter your Group Name and City, Group Service Number           along with District Number
5. For Individual Contributions, if you want credit to go to your                  Group Please Enter your Group Name and City, Group Service              Number along with District Number
6. Click "Donate Now" button
7. On your receipt screen click "Return" button

If you have any questions about making a contribution or if you completed an online contribution in error, please contact the or “treasurer@area35.org” to resolve the error and request a refund. We do not suggest using PayPal to request a refund.
